This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes
Match Results:
A massive congratulations to our minors who on Sunday defeated neighbours Western Gaels to win the Glenn Brady Cup. The final score was 5-14 to 0-05. Well done to our management team of Eamon Farrell, Declan Farrell, and Dave Donnelly (Colmcille) & Breandan Brady and Niall Vance (Dromard) and of course a massive shout out to our players and the players from St. Francis and Ballymore. Well done!
Upcoming Fixtures:
The very best of luck to our Senior team who will play Abbeylara in the Longford Senior Football Championship final on Sunday at 4 pm. We would love to see lots of green and red around the parish in support of our seniors in the quest to win the Sean Connolly Cup for the eighth time. Best of luck to the team and management.
Best of luck also to our U16s who will face off against Grattan Gaels on Sunday at 11 am in the fifth round of the U16 championship.

Club News:
We have been successful in an application to Clár in respect of upgrade works of the carpark at Fr. McGee Park. We would like to thank our own development committee for doing the grant application and also local councillor Garry Murtagh, senator Michael Carrigy and minister Heather Humphreys for their help, representations and consideration on our behalf. Also, a word of thanks to the staff in Longford County Council for their advice and help with the application. We have been granted €49,750 from the fund for our project, which aims to upgrade the GAA ground’s car park. The upgrade will involve installing tarmacadam surfacing, markings, and better drainage. Additionally, the project will include creating wheelchair-friendly access and implementing a one-way system to improve traffic control in our unfinished car parking area.
We had a fantastic evening at Fr. McGee Park last Friday as we finished up U6, U8, and U10 training for the season, with a special appearance from our senior players who lent a helping hand.
A huge thank you to all the dedicated coaches for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. The future of Colmcille GFC is looking bright with these young stars!
Thanks to everyone involved for making it a great season.
Well done to former player Aaron Jones and his Owenmore Gaels teammates on reaching the Intermediate final in Sligo.
