This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes
Match Results:
Hard luck to our U16s who lost out in Round 4 of the U16 Football Championship against Clonbroney/Wolfe Tones Og last Friday, with a final score of 3-26 to 3-07.
Commiserations to our Junior team who were unfortunately defeated in the Longford ‘A’ JFC Semi Final on Sunday, with a final score of 0-08 to 2-10. A huge thank you to all the players and to the management team for a great year proudly winning the Gilmore Cup and reaching a semi final of a championship. Well done to Colin and Killian.
A massive congratulations to our seniors who on Sunday defeated neighbours Mullinalaghta to book a spot in the 2024 Longford SFC Final. The final score was 0-11 to 1-06. Well done to all involved. We are all looking forward to the final on October 13th.
Upcoming Fixtures:
The very best of luck to our Minor team who will play Western Gaels in the championship final on Saturday. We would love to see some green and red around the parish in support of our minors in the quest to win the Glenn Brady Cup. Best of luck to the team and management.
50/50 Draw:
Our 50/50 Draw took place last Monday, the 23rd in Murtagh’s Bar. We want to thank everyone who participated in the draw. Congratulations to Una Kelly, the lucky winner of our €1,405 jackpot. You can enter the 50/50 draw by purchasing envelopes at any local shop or pub or by entering online. The link can be found on any of our social media platforms.
Club News:
We are looking for people to participate in Scór in the following categories: Figure Dancing, Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Novelty Act, Instrumental, and Quiz. It is a great way to get involved with the club, build confidence, and showcase the wide variety of talents the young people of our parish have to offer! The Scór na nÓg competition is for young people who were aged under 17 on the 1st of January 2024. At the moment, it is set to take place on the weekend of the 8th of November. The U8 football season has come to a close, and what an incredible year it has been! Our young players have shown fantastic enthusiasm and improvement throughout the year. A huge thank you to all the coaches, parents, and supporters for their dedication and encouragement. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the field next season!
