This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes


Match Results:
Hard luck to our U16s who lost in Round 1 of the Under 16 Football Championship Group 2 against St. Francis last Friday, with a final score of 6-18 to 3-08.

Hard luck to our minors who lost in Round 3 of the Minor Football Championship against Clonguish last Tuesday, with a final score of 3-11 to 1-06.

Massive well done to our U14 team who last Sunday defeated Wolfe Tones Óg in the Under 14 Football B Shield Final with a scoreline of 3-15 to 3-05. Well done to the team and management.

Upcoming Fixtures:
Best of luck to our minor team who take on Western Gaels in the fourth round of the Minor Football championship on Tuesday at 6:45 pm in Fr. McGee Park. Best wishes to the team and management.

Best of luck to our senior team who will face Clonguish in the Quarter Final of the Senior Football Championship on Saturday 14th September at 6:15 pm in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Best of luck to our junior team who will face Longford Slashers in the fifth and final round of the Junior A Football Championship League Stages on Sunday 15th September at 1:00 pm in Michael Fay Park. A win will book the lads a spot in the semi-final!

50/50 Draw:
Our 50/50 Draw took place last Monday, the 2nd in Paddy Reilly’s Bar. We want to thank everyone who participated in the draw. Congratulations to Ruth & Anthony Brady, the lucky winners of our €1,475 jackpot. You can enter the 50/50 draw by purchasing envelopes at any local shop or pub or by entering online. The link can be found on any of our social media platforms.

Club News:
We are looking for people to participate in Scór in the following categories: Figure Dancing, Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Novelty Act, Instrumental, and Quiz. It is a great way to get involved with the club, build confidence, and showcase the wide variety of talents the young people of our parish have to offer! The Scór na nÓg competition is for young people who were aged under 17 on the 1st of January 2024. At the moment, it is set to take place on the weekend of the 8th of November. Contact Grace at 0877962558 for more information on how to get involved.

Time to declutter – Colmcille Ladies GFC are having a clothes collection with drop-off donations at Colmcille Community Centre on the following dates – Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of September and the following weekend – Friday 13th, Saturday, 14th & Sunday 15th September. Clean clothing, footwear, bedlinen, belts, towels.  No duvets or pillows, please.

Congratulations to all of our U12 players, coaches, and mentors who participated in the Vivian Dowd Blitz last weekend, which was hosted by Mullahoran Dreadnoughts. There were plenty of great skills on display throughout the day. A special mention to the Mullahoran organisers of the Blitz who put in great effort to ensure the day was a great success.

Colmcille GFC would also like to congratulate our ladies’ club on their success in the u16s’ fantastic win this last week against Ballymahon Forgney. Well done to all the girls and their Management; Kieran, Mairead and Katie McCabe
