This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes

50/50 Draw:
Our 50/50 Draw took place last Monday, the 13th in Paddys Bar. We want to thank everyone who participated in the draw. Congratulations to John Reilly, the lucky winner of our €1,725 jackpot. You can enter next week’s 50/50 draw by purchasing envelopes at any local shop or pub or by entering online. The draw will take place in Murtaghs bar on Monday 20th. The link can be found on any of our social media platforms.

Club News:
The Every Step Counts initiative is well underway, and Colmcille GFC currently ranks 50th in Leinster. There’s still plenty of time to make a difference and improve our standing, so we’re encouraging everyone to get involved. This is a fantastic opportunity to stay active, promote health and well-being, and help the club at the same time. By signing up and logging your steps, you’ll contribute to our overall total and give us a chance to win prize money for the club. Whether it’s a walk, jog, or run, every step you take counts towards our position!

Membership options for the upcoming season will be available soon and will be shared on our website and social media platforms. We are excited to announce that payments will once again be accepted conveniently through the club app, making the process quick and easy for everyone. Membership is a vital part of supporting the club, and we encourage all members, both new and returning, to register early. Further details, including pricing and membership benefits, will be announced shortly. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to another successful year at Colmcille GFC!

Our senior team is thrilled to announce the launch of their annual National League Predictor fundraiser, now bigger and better than ever! This year, we’ve introduced an exciting new double-up feature and a user-friendly webpage for submitting your predictions. Participants can test their knowledge of the national leagues while competing for weekly prizes and an overall grand prize. To join in or for more information, contact any member of the senior panel or visit our website (www.colmcillegfc.com) and navigate to Our Club > Player-Fund Predictor.

The newly established Gaelic for Mothers and Others Colmcille team is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, and are on the lookout for a manager to lead the way! This is a fantastic program that provides women of all ages and fitness levels with the opportunity to learn Gaelic football in a fun, non-competitive environment. It’s designed for those who may not have played before or who are returning to the sport, offering a chance to stay active, make new friends, and be part of a team. Having a Gaelic for Mothers and Others team in Colmcille GFC is a wonderful addition to our club, fostering inclusivity and community spirit while promoting health and well-being. If you or someone you know is interested in helping out in any way, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Sinéad on 086 152 4339 for more information.

Colmcille GFC, in collaboration with Colmcille Ladies Club, is delighted to sponsor footballs for St. Colmcille’s NS ahead of the upcoming School Boys’ and School Girls’ Championships. We are excited to see the students back on the pitch, training hard, and honing their skills as they grow and develop as players. Supporting our local schools and fostering a love for Gaelic games is a key part of our club’s mission, and we wish all the young players the very best in their upcoming competitions!

Best of luck to the Longford Senior Football team as they kick off their Division 4  National Football League campaign this Sunday against Limerick in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. We are especially happy to extend our best wishes to our own club representatives—Ruairi Harkin, Jack Macken, and Cathal McCabe. On behalf of all the club, best wishes on Sunday.

Condolences:
Colmcille GFC would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the late Mary Murtagh (née Kelleher), Glenmore, whose funeral took place Monday at 11am in St. Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
