This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes


50/50 Draw:
Our 50/50 Draw took place last Monday, the 12th, in The Hill Top Bar. We want to thank everyone who participated in the draw. Congratulations to Gratian Pacurar, the lucky winner of our €2,145 jackpot. You can enter next week’s 50/50 draw by purchasing envelopes at any local shop or pub or by entering online. The draw will take place in Paddy’s on Monday, 19th. The link can be found on any of our social media platforms.

Club News:
A massive congratulations to Niall Brady who proudly represented Colmcille on the Longford-Leitrim Masters team — well done, Niall!

Best of luck to Colmcille Ladies who present “Farmers and Fairies” on Friday, May 31st as part of the Brian Boru Festival. Be sure to come along for what promises to be a great evening’s entertainment. Please support the annual Brian Boru Festival in any way you can!

Hard luck to the girls of Colmcille National School who narrowly lost out in the Division 1 final last week. A fantastic achievement to reach the final, and plenty more big days to come for this talented group.

Well done to our U8s (born 2018) who lined out for their very first Blitz in Abbeylara during the week! There was great football, huge effort, and plenty of smiles from this fantastic bunch — the future is definitely bright for Colmcille GFC!

Well done to our U12s who put in a solid performance on Friday, 10th May to defeat Ballymahon Forgney Gaels on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-7 in Round 5 of the Mini Football League. The match was held at Fr. McGee Park with Jimmy McCormack officiating. The U12s will be out again on Tuesday, 20th May, taking on Clonbroney in Maguire Park at 7:00pm. Best of luck to the team, and Oisín Hourican will be the referee on the night.

Our Division 3 team produced a brilliant display on Sunday, 11th May with a comprehensive 4-16 to 2-9 win over Dromard in Round 2 of the All County Football League. The game was held in Fr. McGee Park and refereed by Padraig McKenna. They followed it up with another outstanding result in Round 3 on Friday, 16th May, defeating Longford Slashers 5-19 to 0-10 away in Michael Fay Park — Karl Nolan officiated that tie.

Our Minors were also in flying form on Monday, 12th May in Round 4 of the Under 18 Development Series. They secured an excellent 3-15 to 0-15 home win over St. Patrick’s Óg with Jimmy McCormack on the whistle.

Best of luck to our U16s who face Killoe Óg in the Division 2 Shield Semi-Final on Monday, 19th May at 7:30pm in Fr. McGee Park. Mark Glancy will be the referee. Be sure to head down and support the lads!

Our Division 5 team kicks off their campaign on Wednesday, 22nd May with an away fixture against Fr. Manning Gaels. The match throws in at 8:00pm in Monaduff, and Donal Kane will be refereeing.

Our seniors will also be back out on Wednesday 21st May vs Clonguish in Fr. McGee Park then again also on Saturday, 24th May vs Rathcline at 7:00pm in Clonbonny. Referee details are to be confirmed.
