This Week’s Colmcille GFC Club Notes
50/50 Draw:
Our 50/50 Draw took place last Monday, the 28th in Paddy’s Bar. We want to thank everyone who participated in the draw. Congratulations to Kieran Martin, the lucky winner of our €1,730 jackpot. You can enter next week’s 50/50 draw by purchasing envelopes at any local shop or pub or by entering online. The draw will take place in Murtagh’s on Monday 5th. Club News:
A huge thanks to John and Kayleigh Murphy who have kindly sponsored new shorts and socks for our Minor team. Their generous support ensures our young players are fully kitted out for the season ahead. It’s always great to see members of our community backing the next generation of Colmcille footballers – your support is greatly appreciated.
Sincere thanks to Paddy Walsh of P. Walsh Floor Screeding who has come on board as the jersey sponsor for our Minor team. The new set of jerseys is already getting plenty of use and the lads are proud to wear them. Support like this from local businesses is vital in keeping our club and teams going strong – thank you, Paddy, for your continued generosity.
Our senior team continued their strong league form last weekend with a hard-fought win away to Abbeylara on Saturday evening. The final score was Colmcille 0-15, Abbeylara 2-7, with the lads showing great determination to come away with the two points. There’s now a short break in the Division 1 campaign before we return to action on Tuesday, May 21st against Clonguish.
Our Under-16s are back in action this Monday, May 5th when they travel to take on Southern Gaels in Round 5 of the Division 2 League. Throw-in is at 7:30 PM in Páirc Chiarán, and the match will be refereed by Patrick Cahill. Best of luck to the team and coaches!
Our Under-14s were in action on Monday, April 28th, in Round 3 of their Division 2 campaign, where they played out a high-scoring encounter against Killoe Óg. Despite a great effort, the game finished Killoe Óg 6-7, St. Colmcille’s 2-12. The lads will look to bounce back in their next outing.
This Friday, May 9th, our Under-12s take on Clonguish Gaels in Round 4 of the Mini Football League (KMcG Group, Phase 1). The game throws in at 6:30 PM in Allen Park, and the referee is yet to be confirmed. Best of luck to all involved – be sure to head along and support!
Finally, our Division 3 team are back out this Sunday, May 11th, as they host Dromard in Round 2 of the league. Throw-in is at 12:00 PM in Fr. McGee Park, with the referee to be confirmed. Let’s get behind the team and show our support at home!
