Club News:
Colmcille Ladies GFC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported their Easter Egg Hunt and Raffle, helping to make both events a tremendous success. We were thrilled to welcome a large number of families to Fr. McGee Park, where the Easter Bunny and Chicken made a lively appearance to the delight of the children. Thanks to all who came along, donated generously, and took part in the fun. The Easter Raffle was once again a great success—congratulations to all our winners and sincere thanks to those who bought or sold tickets. The ladies club want to thank their hamper sponsors: DM Financial, John Mulligan Carpentry, and John McGlynn Scaffolding Ltd., and to our egg sponsors: Dolores Walsh (Smear Stores) and Emerald Renewals (Stephen Jones / Norman Hall Solar Panels). Thank you also to Murtagh’s Bar, Hilltop Bar and Smear Stores for hosting hampers, and to all the sellers across the community, including players, coaches, executive members and local businesses. A final thanks to the children of St. Colmcille’s NS, St. Guasacht’s NS and Little Rascals Corner for their beautiful Easter artwork, and well done to our Sellers’ Prize winners: Ruth Jones, Lily Rose McKeon, and Amelia & Lucia Carrig.
Our senior team returns to action this Saturday, April 26th, in Round 4 of the ACFL Division 1. Colmcille will take on Carrickedmond at 7:00 PM in Fr. McGee Park. All support is welcome as the lads look to continue their strong start to the campaign.
Our Division 3 team began their league campaign away to Clonguish on Sunday last. Despite a battling display, they were narrowly beaten on a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-07. Their next fixture is due to take place in the coming weeks—details to follow.
Our minors travelled to Michael Fay Park on Tuesday, April 15th, where they recorded an impressive 4-19 to 3-08 win over Longford Slashers in Round 2 of the U18 Development Series. They now face Killoe Og in Round 3 this Thursday, April 24th, at 7:00 PM in Fr. McGee Park.
Our U16s are back in action this Monday, April 21st, as they welcome Granard to Fr. McGee Park for Round 4 of the Division 2 league. Throw-in is at 7:00 PM. Best of luck to the team and management.
It was a mixed week for our U14s. They lost out to Southern Gaels (5-11 to 3-09) in Round 1 but bounced back strongly in Round 2 with an excellent 2-14 to 0-00 win at home to Granard. Well done to all involved.
Well done to our U12s who had a brilliant win over Killoe Og on Friday evening, finishing 0-26 to 0-10 in Fr. McGee Park. They’re back in action this Friday, April 25th, away to Clonbroney at 7:00 PM in Maguire Park.
We’re delighted to share that Colmcille GFC will receive €648 this year through the Intel Matching Grant Program. Huge thanks to Niall Brady for his continued commitment to the scheme, which matches volunteer hours by Intel employees with donations to their chosen organisations. Since 2010, Niall’s volunteering has earned an incredible €25,748 for the club. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to Niall and Intel for their continued support.
