A huge well done to the Ardscoil Phadraig U16 Ladies team on their recent and well-deserved success securing the Leinster title! We are especially proud of the Colmcille Ladies players who were part of the team—Kayleigh Brady, Érin Murtagh, Ella Reilly, Maria Kelly, and Sophie Cremin—all of whom played an important role in the victory. Congratulations also to their teacher and coach, Ms. Caroline Doyle, for her support and guidance. It’s fantastic to see our young players achieving great things both at club and school level – keep up the brilliant work!
Following our weekly 50/50 Draw on Monday last, Colmcille GFC held its very first Members Quarterly Draw, and we are delighted to announce that Bernard Reilly, Dernavogy, was the lucky winner of €1,555. A hard-fought battle in Round 2 of the Division 1 League saw Colmcille play out a thrilling draw with Longford Slashers on Saturday evening in Fr. McGee Park. After trailing early on, the lads showed great resilience to fight back and take the lead late in the game, only for a late Slashers goal to level the contest. The final score was Colmcille 1-13 to 3-07 Longford Slashers. It was another strong team performance full of effort and determination. Well done to the players and management on another encouraging display. We now turn our focus to Round 3, where we travel to The Laurels to take on Mullinalaghta this Saturday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m. – best of luck to the lads!
Hard luck to the Longford senior team after a tough extra-time defeat to Wicklow on Sunday in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. It was a competitive game that could have gone either way. Well done to Ruairí and Cathal on their performances and unfortunately Jack missed out through injury —we’re proud to see them representing Colmcille at county level. Best of luck to the squad and management for the rest of the season.
Our Under 16s are back in action on Monday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. as they take on Grattan Gaels in Fr. McGee Park. It promises to be a competitive encounter in Round 3 of the Division 2 League. Best of luck to the team and their coaches as they look to put in another strong performance. Referee: Oisín Hourican.
Our Under 12s are set for their next outing in the Mini Football League on Friday, April 11th at 7:00 p.m. when they welcome Killoe Óg to Fr. McGee Park. The young players have been working hard and will be looking forward to another enjoyable game. Best of luck to all involved. Referee: Tony Gaffney.
Although we were unsuccessful at the Leinster Scór Sinsear Finals yesterday, we are incredibly proud of our representatives. Michelle Campbell, Shannon Clarke, Geraldine Reilly, Amanda McKeon, Eileen Doyle, Karen Donnelly, Grace McGauran, Patricia Reilly, Breda Kennedy, and Rebekah Brady all gave fantastic performances and demonstrated immense talent and dedication. It’s great to see our club back striving in Scór, and their hard work and commitment does not go unnoticed! They have been practicing since October. A huge thank you to each of them for representing Colmcille with such pride, and to everyone who supported them along the way. While we didn’t bring home the title this time, we’re excited for what’s to come in the future!
Our U6, U8 & U10 mixed training returned last Saturday morning in Fr. McGee Park, and it was fantastic to see so many young players back on the pitch! The session was full of fun, football, and plenty of smiles as we kicked off another great season of underage GAA. It’s great to see both new and familiar faces, and we’re excited for what’s to come this season. If you missed the first session, don’t worry—new players are always welcome to join in and get involved! We look forward to seeing everyone at the next session!
